Grant Guidelines


The Early Learning Coalition of Orange County (ELCOC) AA scholarship grant is intended to assist teachers employed by the Early Learning Coalition funded child care program in Orange County, attain their Associate of Arts Degree (A.A), and Associate of Science (A.S.) Grants will be made available to eligible teachers and will pay for registration fees, required textbooks, lab fees and tuition.

Candidates are required to:
I - Attach a typed brief personal statement between 500-750 words -- Your statement MUST include a description of your educational & career goals, your extracurricular activities and any community service you have performed.  Also, tell the scholarship committee the impact that you believe that education has had and will have in your life.  Also, explain how the Early Education studies will affect your future.  Make sure you do not drift away from what the statement is asking from you.
                                  

II. Candidates are required to (submit proof of the following):

  1. Be at least 18 years of age or older (copy of driver’s license)
  2. Submit copy of two out of the three following items: forms of proof of residency (i.e., FL. ID – must be active for the last 12 months; FL. voter registration card – at least 12 months old and/or FL. vehicle registration- at least 12 months old.
  3. Hold a high school diploma or GED (copy of diploma or GED certificate)
  4. Submit copies of high school transcript and/or additional studies
  5. Be employed by an Early Learning Coalition funded program (letter of employment verification from employer). Family child care providers must be licensed by the Department of Children and Families (copy of license(s). 

Employees of registered family child care homes do not quality for this grant.

  1. Have at least ONE year of documented experience working with current employer, in addition to working with young children as indicated by letter(s) of employment verification.   Family child care providers must have TWO years of documented experience working with current employer, in addition to working with young children as indicated by letter(s) of employment verification. 
  2. Have a minimum of 3 years of experience working with young children (as indicated by letters of verification or copy of resume)
  3. Submit 3 letters of recommendation: 2 professional references to include current employer and 1 personal.
  4. Completed DCF state mandated 40 hour training or 30 hours for Family Child Care, depending on program (copy of certificates).
  5. Submit a signed Associates of Arts candidate scholarship agreement
  6. Submit a typed personal statement


Scholarship Notification:

Successful Applicants will be notified in writing when scholarship determinations are made.
